Lets beat the crisis down!

Since 2008 the world’s main topic is the crisis and  his influences on different areas of life. It wasn’t different in Poland. Everyone was just waiting for some signs of his appearance.
Of course we didn’t have to wait long. With the arrival of the year 2009 we’ve accepted the crisis in our country as a fact. However it didn’t  mean that we sat with ours arms crossed and waited for the miracle. That wasn’t either the attitude of 26 young persons from Basque Country in Spain, who came to Wrocław to do theirs 3 months’ work trainings. Some people can call them crazy, but it’s just the opposite. They couldn’t make a better decision.  After almost 8 weeks of living in Lower Silesia they’re all working and they are content.
The group consist of 4 girls and 22 boys. They came from different parts of Basque Country, most of them, without knowing each other and without any particular knowledge about Poland. Naturally it has change very quickly. During their first two weeks they took part in the linguistic and cultural program. It contained 10 hours of classes of Polish and 20 hours of classes of English with business English included. Moreover they had a short introduction into polish geography, history, basic facts , features and customs. Furthermore they participated in a training which helped to develop their professional and personal competence like for example dealing with stress or getting to know some communication techniques. Also the workshop on doing business in Poland was a huge success and helped to understand some differences and similarities with the labor sector in their own country.
After the training they were more ready and more eager to start working than never.  All of them study in Technical Vocational Schools and  represents  lots of different specializations such as, telecommunications, informatics, nutrition, cooling systems, mechanical manufacturing or social works . They do their practices in companies like Delaval, Microzet, Cooling Systems or Mediateka. What they appreciate most is that they can learn how such establishments work, they can observe its structures and  support solving different cases and tasks. They can also follow the instructions and hints that their more experiences colleagues give them. Not less important is that they use English to communicate while working so they practice speaking and learn the technical vocabulary. Besides some of them got to know how to use various specialized machines, which will be a definite virtue while applying for another job in the future.

They are enjoying themselves and value the fact of working and being a part of something bigger in the country that not so long time ago was just  another part of Europe that was passing threw a turning point. So can they really feel the crisis? The answer is not.  Maybe they were just lucky  because it exists but they try to beat it down and take as much as they can from this polish experience. And as we all know it means having fun too. Lots of trips, sightseeing and parties is what spices it all up however it seems to be a different topic and a separate story to tell..
